Cancellation Policy

GUEST Cancellation

A guest may cancel any booking within 48 hours of the booking’s confirmation by the host without further obligation and receive a full refund less the processing fee as long as that cancellation is made more than 7 days in advance of the booking start time.
If a space guest cancels their requested booking less than 48 hours prior to the time at which the booking is due to commence, spaceblock shall be entitled to retain 50% of the Total Fees (the “Cancellation Fee”).
The Cancellation Fee shall be divided between spaceblock and the relevant Host in the following proportions:
80% of the User Cancellation Fee shall be forwarded to the Host; and
20% of the User Cancellation Fee shall be retained by spaceblock

HOST Cancellation

A cancellation initiated by a space host can be stressful, emotionally taxing as well as financially costly. Cancellations will severely impact the logistics and planning surrounding the event.

In the case of a host initiated cancellation, the guest will receive a full refund.
If a Host cancels a booking, then spaceblock may at it’s absolute discretion apply penalties or take the following actions including :
> Publishing an automated review on the hosts listing page indicating that you cancelled a booking.
> Keep the calendar for your listing unavailable or blocked for the dates of the cancelled Booking.
> Impose a host cancellation fee equal to 50% of the space Fees. We will automatically deduct any applicable cancellation fee or processing fee for which you are responsible, from the next payout.
Only guests are able to request the rescheduling of a booking, hosts are not able to reschedule a guests’ booking on their behalf.
spaceblock will work as hard as we can to secure an alternative space by sending out an email to the guest containing alternative listings and other related information.

 

Exemptions
In some cases the guest and host may be exempted from the cancellation fee due to the following:
> Unexpected death or serious illness of a Host or Guest
> Serious injury that directly restricts a Guest’s ability to travel or a Host’s ability to provide the Space
> Severe property damage or unforeseen issues that directly impact the safety of the guests
> Legal, municipality, or utility injunction or order that directly restricts use of or access to a space.

spaceblock may require Guests or Hosts to provide evidence to support the Excused Cancellation. If approved, the Booking Fees will be refunded in full to the Guest and no payout will be sent to the Host without Cancellation Fees

Cancellations Initiated By spaceblock

spaceblock may in it’s sole discretion if we feel that the booking has violated any of spaceblock’s terms and conditions, which may include but not limited to the following:
> Any actual or potential illegal or unauthorized activity
> Risk of harm or safety concerns
> Failure to provide proof of insurance, when requested
> False or misleading representations
> False or misleading information or images
> Any other reason
